HELP! My 250EX Throttle is suck closed
#1
Hi! I need some help.
My 2001 Honda 250 EX quad throttle is stuck and won't move. Any one out there know how to fix? Can I open the little box on top of the throttle (3 screws) and do something in there? Or does the entire unit need to be replaced?
THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN SEND MY WAY!!

yes, you can open the box, and in fact you SHOULD open it. The problem could be in there and a simple fix. Or it could be a frozen cable, in whiich case you need a new one (I have tried many, many times to repair frozen cables and wasted my time in every case). The problem could also be in the carb. Let's hope not.

i concur, sounds like a frozen cable. probably dirt/grit all in it. a replacement cable should do it. you'll be able to tell how it comes apart and just as easy putting the new one back on.
budedm, is there a way to inject graphite into these newer style cables to help out? i've been trying to figure out a way without puncturing the jacket/sleeve. i just about decided to give up unless i put the graphite in a bowl and try to submerge the ends in it and work the cable back and forth. what do you think?
