Where is the tranny drain plug on 2002 Magnum 500
#1
Hi everyone,
I am newly registered to the forum but have used it many times over the years to fix my quads. Thank you for all of your knowledge. My question is I recently but a very lightly used 2002 Magnum 500 and I would like to change all of the fluids before plow season. I have figured out the rear end but cannot find the drain plugs on the front end and transmission. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Rich

Welcome! The gear case drain is a little hard to find. Reach up under the right hand foot well on the front part of the gear case and you will find a small 7/16" bolt and washer in between the 3/8" case bolts. This is the drain plug. The 9/16" fill plug is right over the top of the foot well lip(pull the plastic out a little and you can see it) Fill with Polaris AGL to the bottom of the plug threads in the gear case. The front differential has the same 7/16" drain bolt on the bottom. The fill plug is kinda hidden on the drivers side front part of the diff. A round plug with(if I remember correctly?) a 3/8" square opening you can use and extension and ratchet on. Might be wrong on the size as they changed over the years. Fill it also to where fluid reaches the thread level. Use Demand Drive Plus hub fluid. OPT

OPT,
Thanks you were spot on. I have a plow mount plate under the quad and the drain plug was invisible until I removed the plate. I completed all of the fluid replacements this evening. On to the outboard motor winterization.
