Lightbulb Raptor or Warrior?

hey just wondering ... me and my brother arguing over my next atv... i personally dont know what i would like to get out of the 350 warrior and raptor 350... im going to be doing both trail and race. I want a atv suitable for both categories. So i want your recommended choice... raptor or warrior?

The 350 Raptor replaced the Warrior so its a given that Yamaha made some improvements over the warrior.

The both Have the same 348cc motor with Mikuni 36mm carb so power would be the same. I think the manual hand clutch of the Warrior would be a drag after awhile.

Here they are side by side, does not look like much differance to me. 2009 Yamaha Raptor 350 ATVs

Same machine. Yamaha updated the plastics and made a few mechanical changes to update the chassis but nothing earth shattering. How old are you and what type of racing are you looking to get into? I am a big fan of the triple tuning fork company, however there are better options for racing than the Warrior/Raptor twins.

What is the difference in manual clutch and regular 6 speed? Don't the raptors have a clutch?

I think the Raptor is "semi Automatic" where you just shift with your foot and can stop and idle even while not in neutral. The Warrior is "Manual" with a hand clutch and you ride it like a dirt bike.

The 350 is a full manual, you have to use the clutch to shift, start, and stop, that is why I went with the 250EX for my son instead of a raptor 250 or 350. It actually has what honda calls an auto clutch, it has a clutch and handle and you have the option of using it but it will shift and start/stop without the clutch pulled in.

Yes, both the 350 Raptor and 350 Warrior have a manual clutch. You get so much more control over your rpm, wheel speed, and gearing with the manual it is the only way to go for racing sport quads.

like it has already been stated the rappy 350 is a improved warrior. if you wanna leave it close to stock then i suggest the rappy due to its newer age and up to date design. however after riding them both i have to say i didnt feel much of a difference in them but the raptor felt a bit fresher. now if your serious about racing then most likely your gonna replace the suspension and most of its components anyway. if thats the case go with which ever one suits you best because a complete rebuild will give you the same feel on both. but ill stand by the raptor if your not gonna dump alot of cash into it. no offense to you warrior riders, their both a good choice. both are a 6 speed with multiplate clutch.
