2012 Outlander 400
#1
I picked up the new ride on Friday and today I had a chance to drive it around the yard and get familiar with it. I noticed that when I'm in low or high the pod does not tell you what gear you are in but it does when you are in park, neutral or reverse. Is this normal for Can Am products? I have 2 Polaris X2's and they display all gears. I would think it would tell you when you are in low or high. Is it a big deal that it doesn't tell me? No but when you spend that kind of money on a new machine I would hope everything is working.
Thanks in advance.

Low or High is easily identifiable on the shifter lever. As for a specific gear, the Can Am has a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) - think of it as having infinite variable ratios hence it's not possible to give you 1st/2nd/3rd etc.

the pod displays all positions (gears) of your transmission- it does on my 2011 outty 800 max xt anyway- "P,R,N,H,L"
Your polaris atv's have cvt transmissions also- if I remember correctly, your polaris also displays P,R,N,H,L on the pod-
not sure what you're referring to as "gears" since neither your outlander or sportsman's have gears...

All I could find on Can-Ams website is that the display shows "gear position". I'm pretty sure my 650 Outlander and my son's 500 Renegade show all "gear positions". Not sure about the 400. It's kind of like it's Can-Am's unwanted stepchild.
