Default what could be wrong with my trail boss

Iwhat could be wrong with my trail boss
I have a 1990 trail boss 250 and it runs great but starting yesterday whenever I put it in reverse it just dies.... And shuts off but it goes into high low and neutral and runs perfectly its just that when I put it in reverse it shuts off why is this and how much would it cost to fix please share any information that you may have

There might be a short in the reverse over ride. Try holding the button in before you put it in reverse and see it that helps.

I'm not sure what you mean? What button would I hold it sorry this is ny first ATV not to knowledgeable but it is hand shifter I don't know what button your talking about

There should be a yellow button on the left handlebar.

The start button? The only buttons I've got are are the red on and of slider the gray start button and the gray lights button and then the right handle bar has the gas

Just pull the tank cover and left side cover and at the top of the circuit board trace the black wire to the reverse limiter module. Just unplug this wire from the circuit board and tuck under the headlight pod out of the way. You've eliminated this shorted out module (common problem) and will now have full power in reverse without having to push the over ride button. OR you can spend about 60-70 bucks for a new module which almost no one does.This was just a reverse safety device that always ends up failing. OPT
