I have a 2002 scrambler 500 that's missing the gas tank. Will a 98-02 scrambler 400 gas tank work?

 

Your fuel valve on the 2002 500 is tank mounted versus the remote fuel valve with two tank fuel line adapters on the 98-2000 model 400 tanks. Plus tank mounting is different(can be adapted) You would have to have the remote fuel valve also from the 400 2 stroke tank and adapt it to work with the 500 fuel pump.The fuel pump on the 500 and different type carbs on both machines are the main reason for the tank differences.Gravity feed on the two strokes versus a vacuum fuel pump on the 500 carbs. Alright, thank you. Do you know of any other gas tanks that will mount or does it have to be a 500 scrambler? I need to buy a tank and don't really want to buy a new one.

There is also a listing here for $108 and shows that it is also used on Trailblazer 250s also and several different year models of the Scrambler 500. You could check for a used one to from any of these models,but be careful on used tanks. Or just bite the bullet and get a new one! 2520241 ASM.-FUEL TANK W/ VALVE $108.09
