2006 Kawasaki Prairie 360 problem.
#1
First off thanks for any help. I just bought an 06 prairie. It sat for two years and had gas in it. I drained it and have ran about 1/2 a tank of good gas through it. It will start up in full choke, but the engine races too high to get it into drive. I can take the choke off a bit to get it to idle down and get it in gear, but then it won't idle when I come to a stop, it will just die. I have tried adjusting the idle screw, I can't find a happy medium. Also, it backfires quite a bit and the 4x4 light blinks about once per second. Please help.

You really need to pull the carb and clean it really good and get all the old varnish/corrosion out of it. Use compressed air and carb cleaner in the passages. Your idle screw should be fine at the factory setting once the carb is clean. Your backfiring issue is also from the lean condition which is caused by the carb passages or jets being clogged. Take my advice and tear the carb down as far as possible and clean everything right the first time. It is worth it to not keep having to pull it because something else wasnt clean.
As for the 4x4 light blinking, im not sure about that. But cleaning the carb and resetting the idle screw to factory should fix all your other issues. Good luck!

Are you talking about the idle gap screw that you turn with your fingers? If so, then you should be able to set it and tell about where it should be just by listening to it run. Just clean the carb first and then it should be pretty simple to adjust correctly. Let us know how you make out.

Once the carb is clean just set the idle until the ATV sounds right.
Lots of videos on you tube on how to clean a carb. If you do not want to it, just bring the carb in to any small engine place and they do not charge much to do it for you.
