LT80 Brake Drum
#1
Hello, my sons LT80 had an issue with the rear brakes not working well.
I opened up the cover to replace the pads only to notice there was alot of grease in there.
The pads actually look good. It looked like some wear in the drum itself.
I'm assuming the issue was just the grease. Any ideas?
It almost looked like the drum was wearing instead of the pads?
Has anyone ever had to replace the drum? How can i tell if it needs replacement?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I see the price on a new drum around $100.
I hope i don't need to replace it.

Ya, for some reason the drum wears. Seems like the pads last longer. <G>
How to adjust the rear brake:: when in need, turn the adjustment ****. When that's adjusted all the way, you take the brake arm off and move it a tooth on the spline.
Knowing that, I'd say the drum is wore out when you can't get it to adjust and work properly with moving the arm on the spline.
LOL
Maybe it was over greased.?.?

I see there is measurement for maximum diameter fo 130.7. I'm going to put a caliper on that to see how close it is.
Now are you saying if the drum is at it's maximum, i can still try to skip a tooth or more on the spline and that may work? Assuming i clean out all the grease. LOL.
I see a few on eBay however no one will respond with a measurement for me. Any chance you have an extra for sale?

Now my next problem is...the drum won't slide on. It's hitting the pads. I was able to rotate the other wheel enough to get the drum to go on, however, it's on so tight is as if the brakes are on.
Is this normal? Just need to wear in? I know it's right drum and the right pads. there is just no tolerance there.
let me know how to proceed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
