sportsman 500 drive problem

Default sportsman 500 drive problem

Hey guys i have an 08 sportsman 500. the wheeler will only drive when it is in four wheel. both shafts will spin however. someone help me out

Is it loud? Sounds like a outer CV may of let go if the axle is turning. That year does not have the locking hillary hubs.

its not loud. normal sound. i talked to some guys at the dealer and they said they think it could be that i broke the chain in the transmission.

If the rear wheels don't turn it's possible a chain problem,plus on the parts breakdown the rear output gear and a bearing numbers have been changed. Sometimes it doesn't mean a whole lot on superceded numbers,but sometimes it does. Could either be a failure in the gear or bearing causing the problem or just a freak chain break? Items #2 and #4.
