A hot setup for I think most polaris!
#1
Got a question? If you are not suppose to carry passengers then why are the footpegs on the back of the floorboards. They fit perfect for the person on the back but not for the driver. I think polaris put the floorboards on the wrong side from the very beginning. I have a 99 scrambler 500 and I know my Sportsman 500 was the same way. Here is the hot setup---- just reverse the floorboads. Put the left one on the right and the right one on the left and presto, your feet are now on the footpegs instead of flat on the floorboads in front of the pegs. This works very good for aggresive riding and it feels right. I never thought it made much sence to have the footpegs so far back, heck the only way to use them was to sit on the very back of the seat. I know this works on the Scramblers very easy. I just put a new pvt case on mine because a kid used it for a step before I bought it and it has been rubbing just when I start it. Now it sounds great with no rubbing plus I put a new K&N filter on. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

will you need to cut out a thing for the brake lever by the foot. i got a k &n filter to it helps but if you want a big gain get a clitch kit and a hotseat pipe it is called a superheader it is brand new they came out a week or 2 ago and i can ride a wheelie wide open (kids dont try this at home) i think someone finally made a good pipe for the 500 it sound sweat to

What was the price on the pipe and clutch and did you install the clutch? Did you need any special tools? If you have a scrambler then you shouldn't have to cut anything. Just remove the 3 bolts on the front and rear of the floorboard that connects it to the mudflaps then just remove the 4 bolts on the floor of the floorboard. Then swap'em.

Adam, That's sweet, cause I have a snap ring tool laying around. I've had the cover off the clutch a couple times now so I am sure if I don't need any special tools that I can install it. After spending $97.00 for a new o-ring chain this weekend I don't think I will get the clutch kit. If the scrambler will snap a chain link in half now with kinda slick tires then I don't think I need any more power with new tires. I am putting new tires, rims and maybe a pipe on in two weeks so with the added traction I don't want to start snaping $100 chains. Do you know of a quite pipe that looks real good? I could care less about the performance gain, I have plenty of power for woods riding. I want it to look good.

I just put the filter on with no changes to the carb. It seemed to improve gas mileage. I had a 97 SP500 that I put a 39mm carb and high flow air intake with a K&N filter and it would easily keep up with my scrambler500 and on top end it would flat out leave it. But on trails it was a bear to get between trees and hard to steer on tight trails. I also had 26 Vampires all around. Get the K&N and if you do have to rejet which I doubt then it will only make it run better. On the box for the K&N it says it improves gas mileage, throttle response, better air filteration, and more hosepower. They are very good if not the best air filter you can buy.
