Default 02 Magnum Driveshaft Removal

I have a 2002 Polaris Magnum 500 4X4. The coupling between the rear differential and the prop shaft has been stripped out. I removed the rear axle/gearcase assembly. This let me verify the problem. I need to replace the prop shaft u-join also. The prop shaft spring pin has been removed and the splined yoke slides freely on the transmission output shaft. I can't seem to slide it back far enough to get the shaft off the transmission though. The u-joint yoke is to big to go through the hole in the swingarm. What am I missing here?

You're missing a good impact if you don't have one. Makes short work of impacting the u joint off the gear case. All you do is impact it enough to get it off the shaft and pull it out forwards at an angle. Most people miss the grease fitting on the coupler and it strips out easily. Use the impact to force the splined yoke from the transmission shaft? Or to take apart the u-joint? The u-joint yoke appears to be shouldered against the hole where the driveshaft passes through the swingarm.

Impact on the inner part of the shaft where it's welded to the yoke just to get the joint and shaft off the gear case. That's how I've been doing it for years. Once out you can rebuild the u joint.Doesn't show on the parts breakdown a cross kit(u joint) kit,but believe it's the same as the front prop shaft u joints kits.
