I am looking for chunky but not to chunky tires for a Suzuki ltz 400. Should I get Kenda Bear Claws or Itp Mud lights?

 

sorry i forgot to say that i will do mostly trails, mud, maybe some sand, and a tinny bit of roadto get to the trails.

Neither, look at the Maxxis zilla Maxxis Zilla
since you will be under 26" you will get the much shorter 3/4" lug so it will not be to rough of a ride but the zillas are 6ply and weight less then a mudlite or bearclaw and cost the same or less. Compare for yourself.Maxxis Zilla
Mudlite (AT) only have a 5/8th lug and the Bear claw is better at 13/16".

Don,t worry about going taller on a 400. My friend had 22" tires stock on his 2wd 300 Kawi Lakota and went to aggressive 24" tire with a tall 1-1/8" lug and loves the extra traction and ground clearance under his chain sprocket.

Not with the 3/4" lug its shorter then the Bearclaws 13/16" but taller then the 5/8" lug of the Mudlite (AT)
I have the much larger and aggressive 26" Zilla with the much taller 1-1/8" lug and only feel the fronts at slow speeds through the bars but never the rears.
I,m guessing your just doing a rear tire change?

Think of it this way when the tire starts to wear down over time it will be like having a brand new Mudlite with a 5/8" lug.
