I have a '99 Scrambler and I want to set my shock up. At the bottom of the shock you have the PLASTIC ring that screws up and makes the shock tighter. I have tried to adjust this and have had no luck. I cant even get it to budge. Does anyone know of a easy way to get this done without marking up and pulling on the plastic ring? I know that the tool that comes with it is made for the adjustment but the darn thing wont work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Keep working with it. If you STILL can't get it to move, it might be cross-threaded.
I'd look for some type of lockscrew first though... My 97 doesn't have one... BUT, you never know!
If that doesn't work, either rent a spring compressor, or get a heavy buddy to sit on the rear of the machine(to compress the spring) then take some strong cable or heavy duty nylon tie downs and tie the coil spring down. Get your buddy off of it, and THEN try to move the plastic adjuster nut. (It should have VERY LITTLE PRESSURE ON IT NOW) If it STILL won't move, you have a problem.

On my '99 Scrambler 400 sometimes there is dirt on the threads etc. that make it hard to turn. I usually spray WD-40 or something on it and once I get it to move I'm OK.

take the weight off of the shock by jacking up the quad by the frame and it will turn much easier.
