250cc quadzilla with ZZR600 engine
#1
Hi all,
I posted in the newbies section but just to recap; i live just north of the Lochness monster in the highlands of scotland. Its so remote in the area i live that the internet(when its not windy) is my life line on how to and where to on projects....problem i have is the uk petrol heads dont play around too much with quads and there isnt an abundance of transplants for me to gain advice from,so im gatecrashing how its done in america! (hope thats cool)
I have a road legal derbi dxr 250 which is the same as a quadzilla 250cc, apache smc etc etc
Ive stripped a kawasaki zzr600 and also stripped my quadbike of engine wiring loom etc today i made the first cuts in the frame to slowly start the process of welding new chassis lower sections incorporating foot rests ...i wanted to leave the top of the frame alone to keep the original quad fuel tank, but i think im running into problems as the engine will be about 2 inches from the ground when in the frame leaving no room for the exhaust downpipe etc so cutting the top is inevitable.
You guys are ***** out on the conversions, has anyone done 600cc conversions to a 250cc frame??? has anyone got any pointers ??
either way this project is personal to me as ive had a few now and due to family (or rather lack of
) ive kinda gone of the rails and dumped projects or given them away, this is one im going to complete no matter how long it takes.
hope to speak with you soon!

ps does anyone know whats involved with lifting the chassis for engine ground clearance? weld mounts for swinging arms lower down?
