Well my 550 seems dead...i turn it on and the dash slightly flashes then nothing...some clicking from the underhood relays but nothing..battery is full....
any ideas ?
it has always been faithful.
the electronic dash won't stay lit.,...nothing...no cranking..no headlites..
all fusues are good...it seems to be clicking from the "chassis relay"

If you haven't had the battery load tested it still could be bad even if it shows 12 volts. A bad cell is all it takes and it may not have enough amperage to crank the machine. Plus I'd eliminate the obvious first and that's battery cables, grounds and all connections.

Where is the big relays on this machine? Seems way diferent than my 2001

Under the front panel. Plus while it's idling make sure it's charging 14 volts back to the battery. If it isn't could be a regulator/rectifier problem. Item 3. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

it was the battery !!
$80 and a new AGM battery and its runnign fine.
I am not used to all the stuff this new quad has...Power steering to pull lotsa power right away, computer controlled fuel injection, electronic dashboard display...all this neds power and a LOT of it...and a bad battery would not supply it.
THe one thinkg i did find out and never noticed before is this quad has no pull start !! not sure I like that...If it had died out in the woods, far from anywhere, I would be in BIG TROUBLE. I like that in the older quads....my 2001 500ho for example. This quad, having it in reserve, as a back up for such situations, saved my weekend of riding.
But thanks to all that said "its the battery" you were right.

If you don't already have one, keep the battery hooked up to a cheap 20 buck maintainer when not in use and you should get more years out of one in most cases.Remember to check the charging at the battery while idling also to make sure you're getting 14 volts.

10-4 on the Battery Tender OPT...I have one for every quad (5 of'em) and for the lawn mower, and 3 motorcycles...so I am poor via buying them things...and 25 bucks or so each x 9...well you can do that math cuz I'd rather not know ! lol
I guess they omitted the pull start on these fancier models cuz of the battery draw they need just to get rolling, power steering, fuel injection, digital dash...so much power pulling.

I,m not a big fan of some technologies.
If a battery died on a carb atv with no ECM brain box you just pull start it and your of and running for the day, not walking or getting towed back.
Electronic power steering and EFI may be good in a clean environment like PWC and snowmobiles but ATVs in many cases go through he11 and are rolling around in the mud like a farm pig.
