here is a dumb question, is the choke on when the lever is up or down? the book says when the lever is down the choke is off. I just got the 250r back togather and when the choke lever is up it idles fine , but when I flick it down the bike smokes and wants to die, like the choke is on. so is the book right and my carb is off or is it reversed. thanks

 

When the lever is down the choke is on.Thats the way it is on my stock carb.
