How well will a stock Rancher 4x4 go into a 98 Ford Ranger Ex. cab bed

I'm not sure of the Rancher dimensions but, I have a '99 Ranger SuperCab and my Sportsman is a tight fit. It will carry the weight fine. My wheel wells have taken a beating from the front tires. The front wheels being just a shade wider than the wells, and the rims have dented and gouged them. Because of my winch hitting the rear window I began backing it in. Not fun after a long day of riding. I tow it now. But it fits o.k. and will carry fine. Just can't shut the tailgate...

Not sure about the Ranger's bed size but, I have a 95 S-10 and my 01 Rancher 4x4 es JUST fits. I have to make sure that its all the way up and the SLAM the tailgate shut. I am going to be looking for a small trailer soon.

I have a 98 Ranger ext cab. the bed is 6 foot and the Rancher will not fit with the tail gate closed. I wouldn't try to force it either....the front of the bed will bend to touch the cab!! It will come within about 8-10 inches of closing. I even let some air out of the tires hoping they would collapse some. I did/do this, I put the Rancher in there, then use rachet straps to fasten the atv into the bed then I use another ratchet strap to hook onto the closures of the tailgate looped all the way up and around the atv and back to the other closure on the tailgate to hold the tailgate semi closed. That is just to keep my other junk from falling out as I truck down the road.

Here is my dilema, I just put 26" 589's on my Rancher and I haven't even tried to put it in the truck yet but I'm thinking I'll have to drive over the fender wells now.
Have fun!

My Rancher just fits into my Toyota Tacoma, short bed. However, I have to back it in, due in large part to the roller fair leads.

I personally do not see any problem with the Ranger bed, but your wheel wells will more than likely need to be ridden over.

I just bought a 2001 Ford Ranger ext. cab and love it! To solve the tailgate shutting problem to hold in your gear, why not look at getting a bed extender. Mine came with one from Ford and is quite functional.
