Default 2001 sportsman 500HO wont start

Hi everyone, well after reading lots of posts about the issues I still cant get the bike started, should have been a simple changout process I thought. I have changed out the stator, rectifier and pulse trigger due to the bike not charging - bought from caltric.
I have checked the timing marks on the upper- lower cam and flywheel, all seem to match. I have spark at the plug, but I did read that possibly just switching the white wires on the trigger it may start, it doesn't give me any spark when i switched the white wires.
I have tried gas directly into the carb and also tried quickstart.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

If you don't have a manual here's a pdf that the wiring schematic test should help.Plus even though stator is new, check the resistance values. Have had several people have problems on Caltric stators.Index of /ORV Manuals/Polaris/Sportsman/1996 - 2001 Click 1996-2003 Sportsman.

I will try that for sure, the stator has something to do with starting- I thought it was just for charging the battery and running lights.
thanks, i will let you know.

No the stator has an exciter(charge) coil for ignition and a lighting coil for the lights. The exciter sends the signal to the pulse coil, pulse coil to the cdi which times the signal and advance electrically. The cdi then sends the signal to the coil where the charge is magnified enough to provide spark.

well here are the readings I have ,
Exciter coils red to black/red 18.5 ohm should be 1.9 ohm
red to ground - infinity(no reading)
trigger coil white to white/red 94.1 should be 97 ohm

guess its time to contact caltric.

thanks OPT

Ordered from this place several times ,especially if oem parts were back ordered and didn't have any problems. http://www.rickystator.com/catalog/p...tor-p-479.html

Thanks OPT for putting me onto the "new but could be bad stator".

I ordered another from rm stator here in canada. Was still a problem until I reversed the red and black from the stator to the cdi ( couldn't imagine why the stator red went to cdi black/ red) .
Fired right up and today is our first big snow storm, 20-30 cm of snow.

Thanks again

We've found that to happen on several stators also.Frustrating until you look close at the connectors.
