Polaris Hawkeye Blowing Fuses

Default Polaris Hawkeye Blowing Fuses

My Hawkeye died while it was running, and now if you look at the fuse loom, with the fuses pointing up, the one on the left blows absolutely every time I turn the key. It blows instantly. Any idea where I should start looking? Nothing works either, no cluster, no headlights, no start, nothing.

Check the simple things first such as battery connections,plus wiring into the fuse blocks for any shorts.Doesn't happen often,but shorted out ignition switch contacts can cause this also.

Thanks for the help. I've got the entire front fender assembly off the atv, so everything is exposed and I see no obvious wiring issues. I uncovered the main wiring loom as well. There's only 3 ohms at the ignition switch between pins C and D. No idea what the issue is but I cannot get the display to come on.

I'd suspect the ignition-
or maybe a hot wire with worn insulation rubbing on the frame.

some wires aren't "energized" until the ignition is on- if you can replace the fuse, and it doesn't blow with the ignition on... then blows as soon as the ignition is switched on, then I'd think it's in one of those wires.

but a faulty ignition will easily cause that kind of grounding issue.

I'll see if I can find an ignition switch on Ebay then. I'm going to test those two diodes as well, it's easy enough.

Only located one of the diodes, but it was working fine so I'm going to say the other one probably is too. I threw a 100 ohm resistor in between the two terminals that red and black wires go into, on the plug that goes to the ignition switch. The display still didn't turn on. I did order a new ignition switch but I don't think that's the problem. I hate electrical issues...

Replaced the ignition switch and it still blows fuses. I've also traced a lot of the wires and not found anything noteworthy. If anyone has any ideas as to why fuses are still blowing, it'd be really helpful, thanks.

Wire loom that snakes around steering posts and other areas of stress are prone to shorts also. Don't overlook wires in a protected loom as they can be damaged also.

I undid most of the loom that comes from the steering column, I stopped unlooming it after it loops past the starter solenoid, haven't found anything obvious yet. I'll keep going with it, especially since it's a bit warmer outside.

What color are the wires going to the fuse that keeps blowing ?
