i have a 96 scrambler 4x4, and have the chance to get an early 90s trailboss 250 4x4 cheap. just wondering if the front end parts such as struts/axle/sprocket bearing etc would be compatible. parts diagrams show some part numbers are the same, but then others dont show. thanks.

 

Just like you said some parts will interchange,others were different. Changes were made especially on the bearing carriers over the years from simple two bearing set up to a timken style bearing system later on,improved strut cartridges,tie rod ends,etc,but possible you could interchange some parts. If mine I'd hold out for one closer in style and age to your model to use as scavenge/parts bike.
