help, while driving my atv in any gear it will make a loud pop and will pull the bike down. i do not know where the popping noise is coming from and when it does it it like pulls the rear end down. have never seen or heard this before on an atv

Is atv hard to push in neutral? sometimes rear brake arm or parking cable sticks... If hard to pushing in neutral try removing the 2 wing nut at rear end were the cables goes into the rear cam. also make sure you move the brake arm forward with hand to make sure arm -cam= not stuck..

Whilst it is common for the rear brake pivot and/or handbrake cable to seize, when accompanied by the bang and squatting, it seems more like either the brake linings have come off the shoes or a diff is breaking up. Jack the rear end up and check for play in the diff bearings. Move the rear wheels round and check the backlash in the diff and transmission. There is quite a lot as standard but it may jump a tooth if the diff is shot. Check the swinging arm bearings. If no fault is found, remove the rear brakes and check the linings. Next check the front diff and prop shaft for wear. The drive shaft splines are quite sloppy so don’t assume the diff bearings have gone if there is up and down movement at the inner CV joints, take the filler plug out and see if the crown wheel moves when you lift the CV joint.

I would remove the cap on the rear-end (17mm I believe) and use your finger or a small magnet to see if you have broken teeth in the rear-end. When the teeth break, or ball bearings, they get wedged between the ring and pinion causing popping and atv pulldown due to the binding issues. Hopefully this won't be your case..... but it was mine......
