if you want better brakes you do not need to split the system just change the master cly to one from HPD. i have done this to my exp and my wifes trail blazer.

I have just attempted to split my brakes. I purchased a second hand master cylinder for the right side and conected it to the front brakes only. The result was amazing. The lever requires a lot less effort to pull on, and the brakes are excellent. The only problem I still have is that the rear brake is not very effective at all.I have gone straight from the old lever to the rear brake but the lever requires to much force before it has any effect on braking. The footbrake works well.I would be interested to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve them. Is it the master cylinder or have polaris fitted some restriction to prevent the rear from locking up.

That is the general complaint with the kit. It can usually be remidied with a good bleeding of the lines. When done right the rears will lock up instantaneously.

My webpage is down, and has been, and if it doesn't come back up soon I will be mad. And if all my info is gone, I will really mad.....

Anyway, my rear brakes lock up easy. But the parking brake isn't very strong. My complaint is the front brakes require too much pull before they grab, but when they do, it's pretty good.

I didn't need improved braking (althought that would be nice), just seperate control for front brakes/rear brakes.

I might try some new brake pads soon, MUD FRIENDLY ones.

Just an FYI, you guys would be suprised how many people in Texas have absolutly no brakes on their quads. Mostly just sport riders.... My Yamaha, and 3-wheelers, never had brakes until we sold them. With an automatic, and sport riding, I must have brakes now!
