1996 polaris trail boss 250 transmission problem
#1
I recently bought a trail boss that 2x4 250 when going from reverse to forward it will drop out of gear if taking off to hard or just at random but only if you are going from any other gear to forward if you start the machine in forward it does not do it and can handle hard acceleration. If anyone can give me any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Common problem that sometimes can be remedied by linkage adjustment.Check that the belcrank is tight on the transmission, have the transmission in neutral, loosen the linkage rod nuts, pull the lever out from the neutral notch and adjust to where it fits dead center of the slot. Then see if you have a positive forward. If you go too far you may have a positive forward and a grinding, jumping out in reverse. If adjustment doesn't help the gear case may have to be split and checked for damaged engagement cogs on the slider gear along with shift forks and mating gears.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
