Has anyone ever bought I quad from alba?(albaaction.com). They have really good deals. you can buy any quad there for your choice of any xhaust, jetting, k&N Filter w/outerwear, airbox mods, shockwears, graphics and seat cover, all the the regular price. I would like to know how alba works. How much is the shipping. How much is the sales tax? How to order? Anyone who has bought from them or knows about them please help me out.

I called there and talked with them about this before going to a local dealer. It's all about the same in the end (for me). I live in ohio and the shipping was going to be around $700, setup fee of $120 and their was a dock fee in their somewhere, plus the $6999. One good thing was thier wasn't tax due to out of state buyer. But I thought about it and went with a local dealer. I now have a pipe, k&n for around $500. Stickers & seat cover didn't mean alot to me. But if you want to wait a couple of weeks, it would be a good deal.
Sorry, forgot to say that was on a DS650 that I called about. But I thing the Raptor is about the same details.

They'll make sure you get corn-holed in the end. It definately was not a good deal when I checked into it. Also, you'll notice that their list of "free add-ons" continues to grow smaller as the years go by. I'm not impressed.

I just took delivery of a 2001 Black/White Alba Raptor and a 2001 Black/White Alba Banshee last Saturday. I had an advantage that most don't when ordering from Alba. I live in Phoenix which is only about 5 1/2 hours from Alba. I worked out a deal with Alba that I would place the transaction over the phone so I would not have to pay sales tax and they would meet me on the Arizona/California border to take delivery (a little over 2 hours drive for me).
For the most part I think I got a smoking deal although it wasn't as good of a deal as I initially thought. Here's a recap of the events:
I worked out with Tony the salesperson that I would purchase the Raptor at the normal price of $6499 and pay their normal fees (a wopping $800 for setup). The setup fee is about double what it costs at just about every other dealer. I think this is part of their "deal" because it makes up for the price of the "free" pipe/jetting. They say that it's higher because they do more to the bike. Whatever. The other part of the deal was that I got the Banshee for their cost. They weren't even going to charge me the setup fee. This turned out to be true. This brought down the overall price. The issues I ran into:
About a week before I picked it up, they said that they were having problems finding a White/Black Banshee and that they would need another week. I said cool. I called back 2 days before I was supposed to pick it up and found out that my salesperson had been fired and that I was going to be transferred to a "better" salesperson named Dave. It gets better! My original salesperson "tagged" the wrong Raptor. He tagged a blue one instead of a white/black one. They of course ended up selling the black/white one. I was pretty pissed... this happened two days before I was going to pick them up.
The sales manager ended up trying to find a white/black Raptor and called me back in a couple of hours. Apparently he found one at another dealership and "had to trade a premium sport bike" in order for the dealer to transfer the bike to him. He ended up doing this and he got the white/black Raptor. The final details:
The day before I was to pick up the quads I talked to my new saleperson (Dave) to work out the final details. When working out the numbers, he came up with a number about $600 more than I had worked out with my previous sales guy (Tony) and the Sales Manager (Jeff). I was pissed. It turned out that he was charging me a $288 transaction fee because I was paying with American Express (he said he would knock off .5% if I used Visa/Mastercard). He was also charging me $300 to deliver them. I said, "hold on there jack... what's this delivery fee"? Tony told me there would be no delivery fee!!! He said that they normally charge $300 for one ATV so they're cutting me a deal by delivery 2 for that cost. I had previousely worked out that I would not have to pay a delivery fee because I was initally told that I could pick them up directly from Alba and was later told that I would have to pick them up on the border because of a issue with the "point of origin". The original deal was the I would give my salesperson some gas money for making the 3 hour trek. I once again said, "whatever".
I understood the delivery fee, but was pissed about the American Express fee. I am not a wholesaler so I expect the credit card fees to be absorbed by the merchent and written off as a "cost of doing business". I guess this isn't the case with Alba but I still wanted to use my American Express (even though I had the cash) because American Express has this deal that they'll add 1 year to the warranty of any item purchased on their card with a value up to $10,000. I saw this $288 charge as a heck of a lot cheaper than adding a 1 year additional warranty on the top of each of these quads, so I agreed to pay it. Here's the totals:
I ended up paying right around $14,500 delivered for both Alba machines. I think I ended up getting a smoking deal for two modified machines with the most killer graphics I have ever seen on quads... plus they match :-) Overall I am satisfied and don't regret doing business with them. Oh one more thing, they gave me the wrong title with the Banshee but ended up overnighting the correct one.
