My friend has one on his Scrambler 400. It is nice to have if you think you will be getting stuck alot. It depends how you ride if it is important or not.
Do you plan on playing in the mud alot? Rock clawling? Then maybe it would nice. On the other hand, if you plan on just riding trails that don't have lots of mud or difficult terrain, then maybe the money could be better spent on other accessories.

The reason why I ask is because my buddies have grizz.+sportsmans with winches and they do some mud riding.Do you think the 4x4 is enough to get me out of most nasty mud holes?

Since they guys you ride with have winches already, I wouldn't waste your money. Let them winch you out if you get stuck. How often do you actually ride with out another quad with a winch?

i had a 500 scr and i had a winch sitting in my garage but never put it on. the stock front bumper is too weak for serious stress. and there isnt enough room to fit it behind the bumper either. i was going to fabricate a new bumper but then decided against it. i figured why do i need to go mudding by myself and it also can cause the battey to run down plus where do you hook the winch when you are surrounded by mud and water?? well i decided to take the winch back and sell the 500!!

I have a 2001 500 4x4 and i mean to tell you that i can go through just about anything out there! My buddies ride a raptor and a 400ex and they are constantly stuck. Mostly because they have zero ground clearance. I spend the majority of my ride sitting on mine and watching those clowns cuss and try to get there quads unstuck. Its hilarious.
