Guys,
I got my new DS Fridau & so far love it.
Except my rear shock seems to have no rebound. I've tried to adjust (per owners manual)but no luck. If I push down on the rear grab bar & let go it stays down.
What else should I try or do I just have a bad shock ?
thanks

The rear shock has both compression damping and rebound damping adjustments. I believe the compression damping is set at the nitrogren can and the rebound damping at the base of the shock. I believe counter clockwise reduces damping.

Before you go and adjust the compression and rebound. Take the bike to your dealer and tell them what is wrong and ask them to check the nitrogen pressure in the rear shock. Most dealers do not have the ability to check but can release and repressurize the system. It should be pressurized to 300#. The dealer should do this for free as a good faith or even possible warrenty issue. If he does try to charge you it should not cost more then $10. Then you should adjust the rider sag and readjust the chain before riding. A properly adjusted bike makes all the difference in the world for both performance and maintinance.

Definately take it back to the dealership, and be sure to ask them if they do any kind of inspection on their merchandise before they sell the damn things. Or if they just uncrate and sell. I had a few things that were wrong with my ds also nothing with the shocks but had a bad oil leak from one of the gaskets, took it to the dealership went to roll back off the tilt trailer and my left front tire was locked up so why they were fixing the leak they said a screw on the caliper was loose or gone. I replied that's real nice I just spend 7200 on a piece of crap. But after a wood stage II and other mods haven't had any problems yet but now i've got about 10,000 in it and i better not have any. Because they won't warranty it now anyways. By the way before you modify your ds be sure to get the most out of your warranty first. Good luck and ride hard bro.

I had the same problem. It is not the shock. It is the swing arm bolt and nut are to tight. Loosen up the lock nuts and you will see the difference. Torque to 80 ft/lbs and back turn 1/4 turn. that should help.

Dhenricks,
Thanks that was it!

Thanks everone for the advice. I showed the dealer so at least they know & there is a "record" of my complaint.

no problem. I am still trying to figure out if the swingarm bolt is 29 or 30 mm. The dealer used a crescent wrench because they don't even have the right tools to work on these units. I will buy the right socket and wrench and adjust it myself.
