ATV for Emergency Medical or similar use?
#1
I've used my ATV several times volunteering as the EMT for a local Boy Scout camp on weekends when there are lots of kids and parents there.
I was wondering what good ideas anyone else may have if you're doing the same thing with your ATV or if you're using your ATV for other types of emergency medical, fire-rescue, SAR use.
I carrying the usual trauma bag & contents, O2 setup with BVM, non-rebreathers, etc. I also carry C-collars, minor wound care kit, and a Heartstream FR-2 debibrillator.
I mounted brackets for a mobile radio that is connected to an Antenna Specialists 3dB gain antenna mounted on the rear rack with Belden RG58 coax and an aluminum mounting bracket. Everything is secured with bungee cords or cable ties.
Thanks for any ideas you may have.

I'm not an EMT or Doctor, but what I think would be a wonderful thing to have in that sort of situation, if you don't already have one is a GPS. If you go on Boy scout trips and that sort of thing, they are going to be somewhat remote, if someone falls off a cliff and needs air lifting, It would be so much eaiser just to be able to tell them you long. lat. then have to drive them to a road or something. Another good thing might be a winch, if someone falls off a cliff it's gonna be hard to get there and a winch sure would help alot. If you look in Cabela's they have a ATV seat that you can put on the back rack (if there is room) that someone could lean on with a broken leg or something similar so they wouldn't have to be carried. That is all I can think of right now, but if I think of something else I'll be sure to let you know.
