Default Headlight Fuse Blows

I have a 2003 Kodiak 400. The headlight fuse blows only when switched to low beams. If I turn it on with the switch on high, no problem. As soon as I switch it to low beams it blows. Does this sound like a switch problem or are there separate wires for high and low beam?

Thanks for any help you all can offer.

There are separate wires but they only run from the switch to the headlights so any fault should be fairly easy to find.

Got it. It turned out to be the bulb socket. The plastic shroud where the terminals are mounted cracked so the wire was touching the grounding spring. A little elec. tape around it and I'm back in business.

Thanks for your reply, Merryman.
