What do you want in a Polaris
#1
Hey guys,
Just dreaming about what a perfect Polaris would be and I was wondering what you guys thought. Personally, I would love something that had more refined styling, almost like automotive quality. As well as some mechanical tweaks. Whats on your wishlist?

In my dreams, a lightweight (400#) machine with good power and the suspension of the Sportsman. Could be optional to be manual shifted or auto, as there are some advantages to both. One that also lasts forever, never breaks down, is easy on fuel, and inexpensive to purchase.
Realistically, I would suggest they put the HO in the Magnum (I bet they do if the rumored twin Sportsman becomes reality), upgrade the mag 325 to a 425 engine (the 325 would still be a viable engine, but put it in a 250 weight chassis, not one designed for a 500) Give the scrambler 4x4s a low gear, and put the whole line up on a diet, as much as you can without weakening them. Or how about a utility chassis (Sportsman, Magnum) and a 'sport' chassis (Scrambler, and the all new Scrambler with IRS). For people like me who value work first, the heavier chassis, so nothing breaks when loaded down. For speed freaks, chop 50 or 100# of the things, and have them marketed to compete against the EX Hondas for fun trail riding. That should do it.
For right now, though, they should put the HO engine in the Mag 500 for 2002 as I will likely be in the market for a new machine in 02 or 03 and I think that would be just what I would want.

First of all, when I put my Polaris in AWD, I want all four wheels spinning, rather than have to wait until the rears start to slip.
I would love to be able to turn the EBS on and off like the AWD with a switch.
How about some aluminum parts to shave the weight and make it look a little sharper?
Maybe an automatic choke and EFI, since this is a wishlist.
A gas gauge would be nice.
Maybe a stereo for when you are stopped on the trail or camping.
How about a two person seat for the Sportsman... it is plenty big and strong enough to carry a passenger.
More color options.
I guess that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

you can get an aftermarket seat with storage for 250 dollars. installed footpegs she loves it. A gas gauge would be nice. Yes i thin kthe big P needs to take a 400EX and build a machine thta kicks it's butt hard. There is no reaoson wht they can't. still make it an auto and 4x4 so we can say you got beat by a 4x4 auto!
