2013 Polaris dies with lights on??
#1
I have a 2013 Polaris sportsman 500 Ho. It usually runs awesome during the day, even with my boss audio tube playing. At night when the headlights are on (even without the speakers hooked up) the battery light will blink when the bike is idling and will eventually say "x-minutes until bike shuts off". But if I turn the headlights off and hit the throttle once it's fine. I put it in the shop twice for it and of course my warranty is void due to water damage now that they can't find the problem. Help!

I know those ECM brain box can cause all kinds of odd problems. You would think the Stator could run it all even if the battery is shot.
I rode my 500H.O for a month with a old dead battery by just pull starting it yet every thing worked as it should but the ECM was not around then.
There was a ECM recall but that was for 2005 and 2006 models.

Start at the basics. Make sure the connections are tight, check that it's charging at least 14 volts back to the battery.Even if it is charging good, if a battery has an open cell it may not be able to hold the charge. That just causes problems when you over load the system and drains the battery down. That where a load test on the battery can tell if it's up to snuff or ready to be replaced or that you have a problem else where possibly in the ecm or stator charge coils. If you get down to that a good shop manual can help you on the tests.
