Default 225lbs, 6'-2". Looking for advice buying my first ATV.

I'm looking to spend between $2500 and $3500 for a used ATV (UTV). I will be riding on trails with hills, rocks, mud etc (I love mud!). I hope to use the machine in the winter as well. I'm located in Ontario, Canada. I've ridden before but never owned one.
I will also be putting a seat on the back so my gf and I can go out together.
I've looked a little on kijiji an Craigslist and I'm just my sure exactly what a good deal is, or what models I should look for and which ones I avoid, how many hours is too many, etc.

Any advice on specific models, years, etc would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance guys!

I live in Ontario Canada as well to get a 4x4 you will need $3000 at least. Forget about a UTV $ide by $ide.

Just stay with a name brand (No Asian junk.) get a 300cc at least . My 350 Grizzly had the back passenger seat option with foot pegs for the passenger and it handle me and my Girlfriend OK, but I,m 5"10 180lbs. Try to stay under 2000 miles, but my 500 with 3800miles runs like a champ.

A AWD system of some type is nice for snow.

Canadian new and used prices are pretty crazy, you will get some American replies saying some nice ATVs 4x4s but they do not understand our prices up here.
I sold a 2007 4x4 Yamaha Grizzly/Bruin with 3600 miles last year for $3200 with 4 new 26" Zilla tires and I think that guy got a deal.

I Just bought another 2007 350 Grizzly 4x4 for $3800 but this one has only 1500 miles and IRS with diff lock. I thought the less miles and diff lock and IRS was worth the $600 upgrade.

You will find some good Polaris and Arctic Cat deals but there not as "Just add gas" as the Japanese stuff and need a little more tinkering.

Thanks for the reply man! I appreciate the tips. I'm super excited to pick up a machine!

I found a 2003 Arctic Cat 650cc with a winch and a 2-up seat for $2,500. Guy says the tires will last another season and I'm just waiting to hear back about the hours and km. Do you (or anyone else on this forum) have any opinions on this bike?

The AC 650 is a V-twin that should have more power than a single cylinder like the Grizzly 660 but I haven't seen the numbers.

If it is the twin, then it is a version of the Kawasaki Prarie 650. Power should not be an issue.

According to what I've seen reported the 650 Twin is about 42HP on the crank.
