Default 91 LT4 250 running rich/carb backfire.. want to replace carb

Hey everyone,

I've been having issues with my 1991 250 lt4 quad runner. When you start it you can smell that its running rich i have the idle screw all the way in and i have to hold the throttle for it to idle. While idling it backfires out of carb and dies.. you can smell real rich out the exhaust.

I dumped the oil had oil/fuel mix

took apart the carb and noticed float needle had some wear so replaced seat and needle, adjusted float.. inspected & tested float for cracks put back together and still dose the same thing.

I tried finding a replacement carb on ebay there are currently non available.

Is there a different slide style carb that i can buy for this bike.. im not too keen on the CV style carb that is currently on it.

I really want to get this working before may long weekend.. getting tired of taking the carb apart trying to figure this out.

Thank you in advance,
Nick

Just guessing if it's the old round type slide, could be a VM30 to 34 Mikuni type carb. Most on ebay have the manual choke though, couple have the cable style.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mikuni-Geniune-VM-30mm-30-mm-Round-Slide-Carb-Carburetor-VM30-83-/201340967487?hash=item2ee0db5a3f&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mikuni-Geniune-VM-34mm-34-mm-Round-Slide-Carb-Carburetor-VM34-389-/400904287015?hash=item5d57c1f327&vxp=mtr

Then you probably have a BST 34 Mikuni as Suzuki,Yamaha,Polaris almost all used Mikunis except Honda that used the Keihin. Fittings may be different.http://www.ebay.com/itm/POLARIS-ATV-CARBURATOR-FITS-THE-4-STROKE-ATVs-MIKUNI-CARB-MAGNUM-SPORTSMAN-/391114199810?hash=item5b10391302&vxp=mtr
