So what kind of tires do you have on your scrambler?? I just put new 22x12x10 bearclaws on the rear of my scram500 they look so good and work awesome that I wanted to get a pair for the front. Why does polaris make it so hard? Everybody makes a front tire for a 11" rim but polaris comes stock with a 10"rim, what a pain. I found the tire a 23x8x11 bearclaw but since I have a 10" rim I would need new rims. The only trouble is I could not find a 11" rim with my bolt patten. Now what? After trying to find a suitable replace tire besides the stock titian and holeshot (not aggresive enough) we (highlifter and myself) decided that the only choice is the 25x8x12 bearclaw on the front. With the back tires pumped up more and the fronts at 4psi they should not be that big of a difference. I am going to try it out and if the rears are too small then I will sell them to one of my friends and get 25s for the rear. Who knows?? They should be here Thursday with my new DG front bumper, just in time for the mountains.

I got those tires for the back too.

The thing is that everyone uses a 10" rim for the front of any quad, except ultility's which use a 12" rim. However, Honda uses a 11" front rim on the 300 & 400 4x4. The front tire is 23x8x11 on the 300, which is why you see so many 23x8x11 tires.

The problem is Polaris uses "the standard" 10" front rim, and nobody makes an aggressive front tire for a 10" rim. To make it worse it's 23" tall, and there aren't many 23" tall tires! The only ones I know of for a 10" rim are Super Swamper & Vampire, 22x8x10, and 25x9x10.

I went with front Holeshots, 23x7x10, but it's no mud tire. I got it for handling. When I get front tires I will probaly go with 23x8x11 Bearclaws. I have seen numerous people on mudruns with those tires on Douglas rims. Also, here is a picture of one with them: http://baselnet.com/atv/own/page15.htm

I would try calling some different places, and look at an aluminum rim I guess. I don't think anyone makes steel 11" rims but ITP.

I love my rear Bearclaws now. The more I use them the more I like them. I learned to put more weight on the outside sometimes in a slide and those big ***** acclerate you out quite nicely!

BTW.... I would try to find someone with a front rim off a Sportsman, Xplorer, Magnum, etc... basicaly ANYTHING besides a sport model Polaris. It is 12" tall and same bolt pattern. You could probaly get one for free, or for a cheap price, from someone who got new tires/rims or from a dealer that had someone take off their tires/rims and put new rims and left the old ones with them.

About those tire sizes. My 22x12x10 Bearclaws are 21 1/2" tall, and the 25x12x10 Bearclaws on the Suzuki are 24 1/2" tall.

So if you can get those rears aired up 2" (stretching it!) you will be close. Good luck.

Whiskey, The bearclaws are around 54.00 to $60.00 depending who you get them from. Adam the guy I talked the at Chaparral told me nobody makes an eleven inch rim with the bolt patten I needed, so I called Highlifter thinking maybe Chaparral just didn't carry those rims. Nope that was not the case. The guy at highlifter told me nobody made the eleven inch rim alum/steel for the boltpattern I needed. That is what screwed me. I could not get the 23x8x11 because nobody made the rim to fit that tire on my atv. I called everywhere in dirtwheels that advertised bearclaws and they all told mehe same thing. I finally just ordered the 25x8x12 bearclaws which were cheaper than the 23s and the only size bearclaw I could find that would work on the scrambler's front. I should of just stayed with my original plan to go big in the front and back, now I'll just be bigger in the front. I will put them to the test this weekend

Steve,

That is pretty weird. I admit I never looked for the 23" size for mine, but I wonder where the other's are getting them? Maybe they are drilling them?

Hope you like your tires!

Steve,
Just thought about something. Because of the differences in the tire sizes, is the Polaris Drive-on Demand (or whatever its called)going to think the rear wheels are spinning and constently try to engage the front wheels when you have it in all wheel drive? When I had the larger wheels on the rear I had the opposite problem. I had to REALLY spin the rear before the front would engage. Just something to concinder.

Jerome, I had the same idea but then thought that it could better. I use awd little cause I stay out of the mud. The only time I use it is on hill climbs and steep creek crossing. I love the hillclimbing ability of the scrambler it is superior to all. I am picking my scrambler up from the shop today, I had new front and rear brake pads and a new master cylinder (blew a seal) installed. I should have the tires on before 6:00pm and riding shortly after. I gotta test it out before heading to the mountains. I am very excited!!
