shift lever by pass
#1
I have a 1996 polaris 400 explore awd, some time ago I started having trouble with the awd engaging. a bungy cord worked holding shift lever as far forward as possible. I saw on u tube where a chap by passed the switch on the shifter by moving a wire, gr/white I believe to a red/wh post and he had awd without replacing or doing anything to the switch that is engaged by the shift lever. quick and cheap can I do this on mine?

Moving the shifter switch gray/white wire lead to the red/white terminal on the circuit board should power up the solid gray wire in the switch. From the shift switch the gray wire goes to the awd button. I believe this should work.

Polaris finally got smart on 99 models and up and installed the gear position switches on the transmission where they should have been in the first place. Items 12,13.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
