Have seen people add batteries to the rear storage compartments, drill holes for wires through the rear of the cab,but mainly they were used as auxiliary batteries to back up the main battery or used to power other accessories by themselves. Space is kinda limited to mount one anywhere else for easy access. The 700/800s had the best spot under the seat, but the rear cab was deigned for it.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

I have never understood why all atv batteries aren't mounted under the seat. Yamaha and Honda do this. Polaris varies in the location. I had a Scrambler 500 4x4 and it was mounted under the rear fender. Not a bad location to get to but it wasn't protected very well from mud and water. I think the new Sportsman 570 has it mounted under the front fender, seems like a terrible place to put a battery. I know the connections are supposed to be waterproof but I'd rather have a battery in a location where it doesn't matter.

The first Sportsman 850s had the battery under the seat but now they're under the front rack. IIRC the 1000 has it under the front rack too. It's a good out of the way place and the cargo box in the back is bigger. They should make all of them like that. As far as relocating a battery I haven't seen anyone do it on any kind of ATV.
