2005Honda rancher 400 AT

I have a 2005 Honda RANCHER 400 AUTOMATIC WITH N500 MILES. DUE TO A SERIOUS INJURY, I HAVE LEFT THIS BIKE IN MY (HEATED) GARAGE FOR NEARLY 3 YEARS. I JUST BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY, DRAINED AND REPLACED THE GAS, AND INSTALLED A NEW PLUG. STILL WON'T START. ANY IDEAS?

Hi steve1747. I'm new to this site as well. Can you give a bit more information as to what is going on? I also have a 05 Rancher TRX400. Some specifics like is it turning over? Are you getting any spark? Does it sound like it is going to start, but just never quite gets there? The more specific you can be the better.

Welcome to the forums.
Check out the Honda section, you'll get far more replies over there and they should have you running in no time.

It could be a valve stuck after all this time, or the cab jets bunged up. I usually start by pouring about 20cc of fuel directly on the air filter, if the bike then tries to start, you probably have a carb problem. I have known this technique to be a cure in itself. I think the suction caused by a running engine may clean jets out. Anyway, if you don't get any sign of "life," check for a spark, if you have one, check compression.
