2010 Polaris Hawkeye 300 blown CDI
#1
Was riding my quad around the farm and it sort of sounded like a backfire and then it would no longer go.
I traced the electrics and came to the CDI Unit (F8T41272) smelt it and it has a burnt electric smell and has little holes in the back of it. Also all the fuses blew.
My question is do these things just blow up after say 6 years or should I be looking for something else? I am concerned that if I buy one from the Australian dealer and there is something else wrong that I may blow another CDI Unit and these cost 25% of a brand new quad.
I am a newbie that is looking for answers if you have come across this problem before

It can fault on its own as well as any electronic component can. To ease your mind and to rule out possibly a stator problem that could contribute to it also, then best to have the service manual to check out all electrical components through the trouble shooting guides and resistance checks.Small price to pay to help narrow down problems.https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail....-4x4-2006-2010
