Scrambler pvt rubbing cover...
#2
I had the same problem on my 325 mag. The rubbing would stop when you pulled out on the cover close to the engine end. I am assuming the covers are the same on all these machines so here is what I did to fix the problem. As you are looking at the cover on the bottom left side you will notice a ear sticking out with about a 3/16" hole. I took a TAP-CON screw and ground the end flat. I then threaded it through the hole and added a rubber cap filled with silicone. I then screwed it up against the engine untill the rubbing stopped. It has worked gerat for about a month now. The tap-con has a course thread and will cut it's own threads in the plastic. I don't know if this will apply to your scrambler but it may give you a place to start looking.

I have only seen this on machines where little kids/riders use the cover as a step or foot rest. A replacement cover should be all you need.
If it's worse, you clutches might have shifted or be out of alignment. Have you taken the cover off?

Scrap what I told you and read the post about the magnum horror story. I am taking that screw out of my machine before I start it up again. I would feel really bad if you tried somthing like I sugested and it ruined your motor.

Another possibility is that you might have gotten water or some kind of condensation inside the cover and that can cause the cover to heat up and melt and actually change shape and bow inward and when the clutch engages it will rub on the case which is a situation that happened to me and I was able to fix it by shaving the inside of the cover but ultimately I had to spend the 60 dollars and buy a new one.

Gnadz,
That happened to me awhile back on my 97 Scrambler 500. It would only do it when I REALLY torqued the machine out of shape. All I did was loosen the bolt that attaches the cover assembly to the frame and "adjust" it a little. Its located under the clutch cover toward the front of the floorboard. Theres a slotted metal tang sticking up off the frame and the back plate of the clutch housing contacts it there with a single bolt. Try that and see if it helps!
Good Luck!!

I've done the adjustments to the cover and it
helped but it still rubs at idle when you first start the engine. If you rev the engine for about 15-20 seconds the problem
goes away. I believe the clutch is either
out too far or the cover is warped. When I
removed the cover and started the engine everything looked ok and was tight.
Thanks for the advice. Any more ideas ???
