How old is the battery? If its old and not fully charged it might throw some codes. I know with all the electronics Honda has put in the Rubicon, a weak battery can sometimes cause things to not work properly. Even if thats not it, its definitely the first thing I would check.

I put a new battery in about 2 years ago and I also just check to make sure everything is tight , The shifter will not lock in the D position but will lock in Reverse and Low , I was trying to avoid a visit to the dealer .I can move the shifter in and out of the D position without the light coming on also

Sounds like it might be a shift linkage problem. It might not be fully shifting into gear and its throwing everything off in the transmission. I'll admit I'm not a master mechanic either but hopefully one of them will see this and chime in with how to actually fix it. I can usually figure out whats wrong with my machines if there's a problem but don't always have the ability or patience to actually fix it.
