You have to press the red button and pull on the left handbrake, I assume you know this, but if you have overdone the adjustment on that brake, the lever may not be going back far enough to allow reverse to be selected. On an ES there is also a switch inside the gearbox that stops the ES button from working until the lever at the bottom end of the reverse lock out cable has moved far enough, so it won't even try if you are not pulling the handbrake far enough back. There is a cable adjuster on the reverse lock out cable.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR IDEALS!! i have ran out!! I am such a Newbie Thank You for you time!!! Speed is fine, everything is except NO Reverse! I am so proud my Ex-Husband broke it. Please help me fix it, lol The men in my neighborhood are impressed that I have it tore down, and I am sure laughing at me at the same time, but they say good Luck we can't help you get it back together. Too stubborn to give up now.. I have change changed Angle Sensor, Oil, Air Filters, Oil Filters, New Battery. A Lady at the local Honda Shop was so bad to me for even trying to buy Oil and Filters, She said if I worked on it not to Call them for help later. Tried to give me the wrong amount of Oil to put back in it, Another guy from behind the counter had to come up and help. Thanks So Much for at least your kindness!! I tested the Gear Shift Switch, haha but maybe should do it again since my skills are growing, lol I also will go tighten the handbrake. Driving me crazy, up late last night trying to figure out what to try next, noticed brake line looked really loose, could be I loosen it??? THANK YOU AGAIN!! I have been riding it for years and clear snow with it in the Winters, now its time to learn to work on it
