IF you have the first 700 efi(2004 model) still shows to have the sensor on the radiator. Item#24.4010161 https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/po...cooling-system The 2005 model had the the thermister sensor on the head.https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/po...at-as-at-au-aw Didm't have the sensor on the radiator.https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/po...em-as-at-au-aw

Thanks for the info.
some other random facts.....I've owned this machine since 2005. purchased it as a 1 year old machine (2004 model year)

i'll throw out another anomaly here...... the radiator still has the Polaris part number. #1240148 which does not show up in the service parts lists anywhere.????
I do have the thermistor on the side of the head by the thermostat housing, but I'm told that is for the "hot" light only.
I have replaced the fan temp sensor once before with part number 4010161 back in 2010. (I keep all of my service parts records)
just can't for he life of me figure out where this sensor is located?????

You've replaced the sensor(4010161) but can't remember where it's located? Or did you have a dealer replaced it and just can't find it? Either way the fan sensor is in one of two places. As you're facing the radiator, far left at the bottom, hidden by the fan shield. Even the sensor wiring is covered by a lip on the shield.I've had to snip a little of the plastic shield to replace them rather than remove the whole fan shield. Either it's there or the ONLY other place that fan sensors have been placed is on the far right side of the radiator, down towards the middle. Plus I'm like you on the radiator.. No listing for it.
