Would help if you looked at the 10th digit of your serial# again as they didn't have a 2015 Sportsman 500,same for the 2014 models either unless you count the Sportsman Tractor 500...

If it's the HO carb model, first thing I'd do is pull the fuel line from the carb and crank the engine over.If the fuel pump is ok it should have a steady or pulsing stream of fuel. If you rule out fuel supply normally that leads to the carb. Could be trash in the float needle stopping fuel flow, trash in the main jet or pilot jet or could simply be a little water/moisture left over in the bowl when you drained the tank. Drain the fuel bowl screw first then crank it up to fill the bowl and see if it tales throttle then. If it doesn't then sounds like time to take the carb off and clean plus blow out all openings. If you have to do that install a new carb kit and be done with it.No sense in just cleaning one and possibly have to go back in again later. Here's agood kit. Shows up to 2005 model, but there weren't any major changes on that BST40 carb over the years.https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Shindy-...ZRw15S&vxp=mtr If you're not familiar with this carb and it's float setting here's agood article on one. Similar type BST40 carb but used on a Ktm. Float adjustment procedure is the same. The BST-40 Bible | Adventure Rider Wouldn't over look the air filter also to make sure.

I'm having the same issue. We replaced the spark plug and had the battery on trickle charge the night before. Started up and drove around a bit and it ran great. Next day we didn't have it on trickle but it started just fine. Except it was bogging down again when throttling up.

At an idle are you showing around 14-14.5 volts? If you are the regulator is charging ok. If the battery won't hold the charge(weak or dead cell) you can have problems running because it needs the constant voltage on this model. Dc ignition instead of the older magneto triggered ignition models that could run without a battery if need be for a short while. Make sure the battery is ok with a load test(replace it if it fails) and that charging is good. If you still have problems, then you may have to go into the fuel system. Pull the fuel line from the carb and crank the engine over. Should have a good stream of fuel if the fuel pump is ok. Beyond this you may have to go into the carb.
