Default 2003 Sportsman 700 Water Pump

I have decided to do the water and oil pump seals on my ride. I've ordered OEM parts, including the updated metal water pump cover. I'm going to do it right and take the engine side plate off. The manual calls for a seal tool that I don't have. With the side plate off, can a certain size socket be used to install the two seals? If so, does anyone know what size? My socket sets end at 1 inch and 22 mm, and I'm sure they are too small. If anyone knows the size that fits I'll go ahead and pick one up.
Also, are there any tips or anything that I need to do to help me along, other that what the manual directs?
Thanks!

Glad to see that you're doing it right unlike some who bent water pump shafts on taking short cuts. Follow the manual. You won't have the plastic caps to protect the crank shaft seal and oil seal, but no big deal if you're careful when you replace the cover. Simple seal puller on the oil seal and use a punch to knock out the water pump seal.No grease on seal lips unless it's fork seal quality. Even then it's not recommended. Some have said a 27 or 28mm (1 inch)socket for the seal. Some have used pvc pipe. They even have the tool along with the seals and aluminum impeller at amazon that you might consider.May be cheaper to get separately.

When I pulled the stator cover off today, there was an oil film inside and it appears oil has been seeping out of the crank seal. I went ahead and ordered a new crankshaft seal for it. Is it normal to see a slight amount of oil? It wasn't standing oil, just a film.
I also ordered a tube of three bond. The manual calls for a small amount where the case halves meet. Is that the only place I should use it, or should I use a small amount all around the new gasket?
Thank you!

Best to order the crank seal too as that will take care of all of them. There will be a little oil seepage as the seal wears, good reason to replace it. Yes use the Threebond on the case gaps as shown in the manual. I always used a little film of Threebond around the case to hold the case gasket securely in place.

One of my parts got delayed, but I got it back together this evening. No leaks and runs great. I used all OEM parts except for the case gasket. I used a Quad Logic gasket. It appeared to be a thin steel gasket with an almost rubbery surface on both sides. I was impressed with the gasket. I have bought a few things from Quad Logic and their stuff seems well made.
