Did you notice it immediately? If it happened that it just broke because of stress, like a really hard hit, and you didn't drive home through mud, water, sand, dust, etc., the internals might be okay. Did you hear any grinding sounds?

I'd probably just start looking for a good used rear end. And I'm guessing about 4 1/2 - 5 ft off the ground until gravity took over.

Have had it happen on Honda 300s, it was due to the bearings getting so worn the crownwheel and pinion got out of mesh, blowing the diff apart. You can get the part that has broken. I had to fit one to a new model 420 recently due to those bolts shearing, Tried drilling them out and re-tapping but they came loose again, and the swinging arm broke. So, bit the bullet and got a new LH casting and swinging arm.

Thanks, i also need rear fenders and not sure what else. I’m also thinking about doing the tinted spray on bed liner to coat the plastics, has anyone done that?

Not sure what "spray on bed liner" is, but my rule is never paint quad plastics, it always comes off in patches, and looks far worse than if you hadn't done it. Camo wrap does work.
