Default 03 250 recon es (please help)

So my Recon was working fine yeasterday, I parked it and everything was fine, I went outside today to ride and when I put the key in the neutral light didn’t turn on, i though maybe the battery died so I plugged it to my battery charger and it said the battery was almost fully charged so I know that can’t be it, also when I hook the battery charger straight to the positive and negative terminals the neutral light still won’t on (including everything else electrical). I tried pull starting the atv and it cranked but it’s acting very strange, it idles for a while and it turns off unless I hit the throttle a little. When I hit the throttle to much it starts bogging but if I let off the throttle a little the bogging stops. Now once it’s pull started and idling the neutral and the 1st gear light are constantly flashing and when I try to put it in gear nothing happens. I am stumped I am not really mechanically inclined so any help is appreciated. Thanks

If you had to pull it, the main fuse has gone, or the red wire from battery to fuse, to regulator, broken or corroded.

i checked the fuse and it’s good. What’s the regulator? Also would I be able to fix this myself? Thanks

If the fuse is OK it could be a loose or corroded wire. However it could be a collapsed battery. Check battery terminals and earth terminals, if they are OK, either check the battery yourself or get it tested. If it is OK but flat, your problem may be the regulator. Charge the battery up, then see if the bike works correctly. If it does, check the voltage across the battery with the engine running, should vary between about 12.5v and 14.5v, any less than 13v with engine revving above 2000 rpm and your regulator, the wires to it, or the alternator, is faulty.

As I wrote above, loose or corroded wire. Can be further up the circuit on a 250, faulty ignition switch or wire between switch and other electrical components. Or negative side, bad earth etc.

okay, thanks for the info, one last question. I opened up my ignission switch and this is what it looked like. It is a pretty cheap one off of eBay. Could this be the problem? Thanks

Well I pull started it and it was running but no power. The neutral light won’t turn on. Pretty sure once it’s pull started it should still atleast light up right? When it’s pull started and it’s running shouldn’t you still be able to use the electric shift?
