Default Honda rancher 420 FI code 18

I have one long blink and 8 short blinks. I think this is a code 18. My issue happened after rats chewed on the wiring by the battery. Trying to repair and need to know what to check first.

Thanks

The best way with a chewed wiring loom is to find all the broken wires and join them back together. I use solder and short pieces of bridging wire if needed, with heat shrink insulation. Once that is done, the fault code should have gone away. With an old model 420 you can get several wires chewed away from the ECU and the bike still seems to run fine, with no codes, but those wires must be there for a reason, so re-connect them all.

Thanks, soldered the wires back together, it was only one. FI light still blinks one long followed by 8 short blinks.

still will not throttle up.

Code 8-1 is throttle position sensor low voltage, so if this is the problem, those rats have probably chewed through one of the wires to or from it. Note the colours of them and check at the ECU to see if one has been chewed. If not, a wire could have been chewed anywhere in between. Also just possible that it needs a system re-set, can't remember just how that works but it involves jumping some wires on the computer plug and temp sender unit then switching the ignition on and removing the temp sender jumper within 10 seconds.
