2009 Rancher...hit the gas and it sputters, help please.
#1
Hi friends, so I have a 2009 Honda Rancher 420 4x4 electric shift (not the dual clutch auto). The problem is very odd, in short; Turn motor on, shift from neutral to first gear, hit the throttle and it sputters. Drop it back into neutral, rev it, shift back to first and it no longer sputters. Any ideas and next steps would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Er, blip the throttle before you put it in gear, most people do anyway. If it bothers you, treat it to a new fuel filter and plug. I sometimes blow the injector top out too, but that seems to make far more difference on Suzukis than it does on Hondas. If you are taking the injector out, the IACV will need to come out first, there is always carbon on it so a clean of that may help, it is very delicate so be careful.

Following up to my main post.
Went through the entire fuel system over the weekend, cleaned the petcock, cleaned fuel lines, cleaned the injector (took out and sprayed injector cleaner through it while applying 12v to the leads to activate the injector). Thing runs great now. In the end I am almost 100% certain it was mostly the fuel filter when I took it out it was black and filled with debris.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.
