Have a 98 400 Scrambler. The bike has smoked more than others since purchase. Dealer told me the problem was air flow. I added a K&N filter no change. Injected oil consumption is greater than other 400s. Now smoking more and fouling plugs.
Can injection be the cause and how is it do I fix ?

I HAD A 400 EXPLORER THAT DID THE SAME THING. NEVER REALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. I MODIFIED THE AIRBOX AND THAT HELPED BUT TO THIS DAY IT STILL FOULS PLUGS LIEK MAD. THE DEALER HAS LOOKED AT IT MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. BUT THEN AGAIN IT ISN'T USING ALOT OF OIL THOUGH. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOURS IS THE OIL INJECTION

 

I'am considering disconnecting the injection for a time and pre-mixing the oil/gas.

Is this do-able? How?
