My wife wants a fourweeler of her own. She is scared to death of my 400ex even thoug she does sort-of know how to ride it. She wants something light and nimble. She would like an auto but there are no small sport autos and she wont even look at a big utility so today my dealer amed us at the 220 bayou. She can live with the auto clutch. My main question is, Is this a good, dependable machine for my wife to putts around on? Is there any problems with them that I need to be aware of? Thanks for any replies.

I bought one for our daughter. My experience and all that I have heard would suggest that they are bulletproof. My only complaint is the push-steer which is unavoidable with single A-arms up front. Also, I would consider it just a tish small for an adult - but that hasn't stopped me from putting a lot of miles on it myself!

I have a 89 Bayou and the only thing that I have had to do to it was change the piston rings, other than that and the regular up keep, its been a great machine and hasn't let me down yet.

My wife is skittish of the larger quads and won't even try my Prairie. She keeps saying, "It's too big." She's had a 220 for a couple of years now; however, she gets around on it like Evel Knievel. As stated, this machine almost requires no attention. Put gas in it and go. We've had no problems to speak of.

My wife has a 220. She is small and it fits her well.If your wife is a easy rider it should serve her well. I have had zero problems in 3 years. She rides it about 3 times a week.

i had a 2000 bayou 220. its was great! but then i wanted somthing more agile and better shocks. i traded for a 2001 Lakota sport! i like it alot better, auto-clutch, chain driven (little more maintainence) better shocks, and great handling on the trails. if she wants to be a little more aggressive, i think the Lakota would be great, i have not had any problems with it thus far. i use it in the good weather about 3-4 times a week. i wished i had bought it the first time, but you live and learn! p.s. i got used to the auto-clutch very fast (which i am surprised) i can acually tell which gear i am in from the reving of the engine, thats a major milestone for me! hehe! but of couse i like the color! hehe!

May want to also look at the Lakota. Much better suspension than the 220, very light and easy steering, not to mention alot more power and it's an auto clutch too. Just my $.02.

I just bought a 2001 220 bayou for my daughter. I rode it last weekend and had a blast on it. I'm sure your wife would like it. It's light handles good and rides nice. Tim
