LT80 plunger assembly

Default LT80 plunger assembly

Do the plunger assembly on these wear out.Just cleaned the carb and took the plunger assembly out and now it wont stay in the open position.Have I dropped something or has the cleaning just shown that it is worn..Thanks for any help.

Not being very helpful Jack. If I remember rightly there is a groove in the rod and a sort of R clip in the bit that screws into the carb. When you pull the plunger up, the clip springs into the groove. When the rod gets worn or clip looses "springiness," the plunger won't stop up.

Obvious question is can you replace these as I think mine has fallen off or lost when I started to work on the carb and dismantled everything.If not I am assuming you can replace the whole plunger assembley

It only comes as an assembly. I did once make a replacement clip up out of mig welding wire. It sort of worked, but like Jack wrote above, non of them work too well after 20 years of wear anyway.

Bought a replacement and fitted.Now just got to get the thing to start and run consistently.Think new plug in order as air filter done and carb cleaned.
